I got to see a preview of an amazing movie last night. Fireproof, from the same folks who brought you Facing the Giants, is a movie about marriage. Unlike most Hollywood films, it is about doing the hard and humble work of saving a marriage that looks like it is over.

The movie stars Kirk Cameron, and he does a great job acting in this film. I don’t want to give away the plot, but here’s a link to the trailer. Or go to www.fireproofthemovie.com to see all about it.

It is a movie that is bravely and openly Christian in its perspective. I grew up in the church, and let’s be honest, sometimes Christian films (and back then, music) didn’t have the quality of mainstream stuff. But just as Christian music today is on a par with secular music, films like Fireproof and Facing the Giants are showing that it is possible to have a Christian movie that displays excellence. I think the cinematic quality is as important a witness as any of the lines in the script. And this movie displays that kind of witness!

The film opens in theaters Sept. 26. If you wish there were more movies that reflected Christian values, don’t just wish. Do something about it. The producers of Fireproof are looking for churches, groups and individuals to get involved. YOu can buy tickets for a showing of the movie, organize groups to see the film, and lots more. Check out the website for more ways that you can take action to help make this movie a success.
