Today, Day 6 in Deeply Loved, Jesus invites us to pray. More than once.
The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, to pray about everything. Today’s chapter offers some simple structures to help us move in the direction of prayer.
Are you studying with us? It’s not too late to jump in and begin reading one short chapter each day, and trying the Presence Practices from each chapter.
Today’s practice is fixed-hour prayer. Here’s the invitation to try, from Day 6 of Deeply Loved:
“Today, you’re going to try experiencing a modified form of fixed-hour prayer. You’ll pray three times during the day, just very briefly each time.
Set a timer on your phone, PDA, or watch to go off at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m. When you hear the beep, simply stop for a moment and take a deep breath. This practice will help you slow down the pace of your life so you can pay attention. Invite Jesus to make his presence known to you in those moments of quiet.”
